GameStar: Apropos: Why did you change the nydus-canal? When we played the zerg for the firsttime we get to grub ourselves behind enemy lines with that giant rm in order to place troops there. Right now you just have a building looking like a worm. Although the “real”worm was way cooler!

    Browder: You are right, but he caused a lot of technical problems. We had difficulties with its look and handling. It would have been too time-consuming to get him working the way we wanted to. At the same time the worm didn’t work out in terms of balancing. So he won’t be in the first episode of Starcraft 2, in Wings of Liberty, at least. However we will think about what we will do about him in the futures. We still talk a lot about him..

GameStar: Can allies also use the nydus-canal?

    Browder: Currently no. We just defined what abilities should have an effect on allies. The nydus-canal is not on that list. However it is not impossible that we still change our opinion. What do you think?

    Browder: Yes, the terrain itself is important to point out, because it offers simple but more tactial opportunities. But this makes Starcraft so attractive: Because gameplay is so fast small tactical opportunities can have a big impact. Besides of this there are units like the Reaper who is able to jump over slopes and so on. Or the Stalker who is able to port around. Or the Viking who is able to transform from a Mech to a Airplane.Additionally you can hide ground units behind objects. These new tactics bring the battlefield more to life.

GameStar: That's right, in the first StarCraft you we're only able to overcome altitude differnces with an air unit and therefore high ground expansions had a better protection against attacks. Talking about altitude differences, what are the benefits for units placed on high grounds?
问:说得不错,在[星际2]里面,不仅仅你只有通过空军单位才能攻击到处在高地上的敌人,而且处在高地的部队在面对攻击的时候有防御的优势。现在让我们谈谈因为地形高低造成的不同效果,在高地上的部队有什么好处吗?
